In short

A full set of four tyres takes 40–60 minutes to fit and balance; an alignment takes about an hour. Winter tyres go on when temperatures stay below 7 °C, summer tyres when they settle above it. In Romania, winter tyres are legally required on snow, ice or black ice.

Fitting and balancing

When to have the alignment checked

  • The car pulls to one side on a straight road
  • The steering wheel sits crooked when driving straight
  • Tyres wearing more on the inner or outer edge
  • After hitting a pothole or a kerb — common on side roads in the county
  • After replacing arms, drop links, track rod ends or shock absorbers
  • When fitting a new set of tyres, so you do not ruin them in the first month

Frequently asked questions

When should I fit winter tyres?

When temperatures stay below 7 °C — usually late October or early November in the Suceava area. Below that, summer rubber hardens and loses grip.

How long does fitting take?

Normally 40–60 minutes for four wheels including balancing. During the seasonal peak, call ahead on 0722 338 981.

Why is balancing necessary?

It distributes the weight of the wheel evenly. Without it you get vibration at speed and premature wear of bearings and steering parts.

How often should the alignment be done?

At least once a year or with every new set of tyres, and always after a heavy pothole impact or steering and suspension work.

Can a puncture be repaired?

It depends where and how large the damage is. A puncture in the tread can be repaired safely; a cut or bulge in the sidewall cannot.
